The Big "E"

Dear Friends

Greetings from the NEW Kids In Focus!  Our new website has launched and we're excited about some of the wonderful things that are happening with the ministry.  Our desire is to be a resource to children's ministry around the country and around the world.

One of the resources we are re-introducing is this newsletter.  We will be offering it monthly to not only keep you up to date on what's happening with KIF, but also to offer helpful insight into effective children's ministry.  We'll start with an introductory article on The Big "E"!

THE BIG "E"

"E" - it's a popular letter in our society today.  We have the "E!" network.  There's "eBay".  We send "e-newsletters" (like this one).  "E-Trade" is available for those interested in investing.  If you want to send a note to a friend, you can send it through "ecards" (.com).  And if you're looking for a friend, of course, you can go to "eHarmony" (if you're not tired of Dr. Phil, that is).  And, of course, one of the biggest "e" factors in our society and across the world is "e-commerce", that growing force driving a larger and larger portion of the world's economy.

So "E" seems to be an important letter these days.  It's important in children's ministry, too.  In fact, the ministry of Kids In Focus is built around what we believe to be the 5 "E's" of effective children's ministry:

  • EVALUATING the current state of the Children's Ministry
  • ESTABLISHING core aspects of successful Children's Ministry
  • EQUIPPING the team for reaching today's kids
  • ENCOURAGING ministry leaders in their personal and ministry lives
  • ENLARGING the scope of Children's Ministry in the church and the community

These five "e's" are what we do.  And we're excited to be able to offer a new way for us to offer these tools...our new website!  We're introducing the new website now (check it out... www.kidsinfocus.org), and we'll be adding more and more content each month.

We'll also be focusing on other "e's" in children's ministry through this newsletter each month.  In the coming year, we'll focus on the five "e's" listed above, but we'll also look at "Enlisting" more team members to help in your ministry.  We'll look at "Engaging" children effectively in your ministry.  And we'll look at "Extending" your ministry by developing leaders.  There will be other "e's" that we talk about, too, which will be all about making your ministry "e"ffective, "e"xciting, and "e"asier.

I look forward to the journey, and hope you'll come along for the ride.  Feel free to forward this on to a friend through "e"mail, too!

Thanks for all you do in reaching kids for Christ.  There is no greater mission field in the world today than kids.  What you do is "e"xceptional, and I, for one, applaud you!

For HIS Kids,

Greg Baird
