Waiting. In this day and age, that's hard to do. I'm ready to walk out the door to go to the office, but I'm waiting. When I plugged in my ipod this morning Itunes came up asking me if I wanted to install the new version. I clicked yes and now...I'm waiting. We have satellite internet (since we're kind of out in the hills), so it's not the fastest. As I site here waiting, though, I can't help but think about two things:
1. Waiting isn't always bad. I'll have the newest version of Itunes when I'm done - that's a good thing. I think waiting, especially waiting on God, is getting to be a lost art these days. What else can we gain by waiting?
2. Waiting can be a significant part of change. I've been at Shadow Mountain now for about 20 months. I came in after 2 years of upheaval in children's ministry and I wanted to make some significant changes. But I waited. People weren't ready (and now, having gone through the last 20 months and dealing with everything else, I realise I wasn't ready either!). Now we're seeing some of the changes made, and it's a good thing. When we're done, we'll have a new version of Mountain High Kids Ministry!
Itunes is finally downloaded, so I'm off to the office. What have you learned about waiting lately?
